November 5: Women in Tech Weekly Issue 31

Another Tuesday, another issue of Women in Tech Weekly! We’re stepping into November on a strong note, with many amazing achievements and events to celebrate and fun and educational resources to learn from ?

As always, I do hope you enjoy reading, and I’m looking forward to seeing your contributions for the next issue! Check out the submission form below ?

Featured Woman ?‍?

Marielle and Miss Aerospace

When I think of Marielle, I think of bright colours and Nasa ?Which is such a badass combination! She is an aerospace engineer who adds a tropical spin into everything she touches. And she is the reason why I got excited about space in the first place!

Celebrations ??

Melissa just finished the first 3 months of her new job!

In her own words:

“My first job out of this career change from academic physics to industry, I am an emerging technologies research engineer working with virtual reality and data science. In this job, I get to work closely with a data scientist while capitalizing on my physics background tinkering in the prototype lab, which is an ideal position for being so early on in this career change!”

Anna wrote her first tutorial on medium.com!

In her own words:

“I wrote my first tutorial “Set up React JS with ESLint, Prettier and Airbnb” on medium.com. ESLint helped me a lot when I was working on my first React JS project. I decided to write this tutorial for beginners on how to setup ESLint with React js from scratch! It helps a lot to maintain clean and readable code especially if you work with other team members”

My firtst tutorial "Set up react js app with ESLint, prettier and airbnb style" is out!💣 Swipe👈 or Click link in my bio for a more detailed version☝️ . . Recently I had to come up with a quick POC (proof of concept) project. And i decided to build it with ReactJS. To make my code as clean🚿 and readable👓 as possible, the first thing I did was to install 💫 ESLint + 💅 Prettier + @airbnb 🏠. . . 💥And why not to share it with everyone!💥 . 🌱If you are creating a new React js app with EsLinter or want to add it to an existing app, check out my tutorial on @medium and let me know what you think! . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #code #developer #programming #programmer #coding #webdeveloper #javascript #womenintech #womeninstem #softwaredeveloper #instalearn #girlswhocode #learntocode #codingtips #reactjs #nodejs #developerlife #angularjs #100daysofcode #womenwhocode #angular #eslint #linter #peoplewhocode #airbnb #vuejs #fullstackdeveloper #codingtips #nyc

Anna says:

“When you build a website you should think about security and data protection for your users. In this post, I go over possible attacks you can get and what to do for preventing it.”

What is the 👮‍♂️minimum security👮‍♀️ you should have on your website? . Whether you build your own website, for client or you work for the company you always☝️ need to think about security🔒.You must protect your dataℹ and and especially your clients data. . 💣This is a very huge topic and I decided to start with overview of minimum security👮‍♀️ and type of attacks🧟‍♀️ you should watch for in you website🌐: . 1️⃣Protect from Cross-site scripting (XSS) This is happens when malicious JavaScript injected in your website. Attackers🧟‍♂️🧟‍♀️ can use cookies🍪 or session information and redirect your users to malicious websites. Also many front end framework, like Angular💣  comes with built-in protections against common  XSS  attacks . 2️⃣ Protect from SQL injections SQL injection attacks are when an attacker uses a web form field or URL parameter to gain access to or manipulate your database🚨. . 3️⃣ Use SSL certificates SSL( Secure Sockets Layer )  certificate initiates a secure🔒 session between web server and browsers. By adding ssl certificate you turn your 👉HTTP website into 👉HTTPS (where S stands for secure). By the way It also increases your google ranking. . 4️⃣Watch for your ❌error messages. Whatever error messages are exposed to user it should NEVER have any information about api keys, passwords etc. . . ❇If you are starting your career in web development🌐 these topics are good start to explore. As a developer👨‍💻👩‍💻 you must protect your users👥 from any potential risk.☠ . . . . . . . . . #instacybersecurity #instatech #cyber #hacker #tech #website #security #codingtips #cybersecurity #bigdata #software
